We are excited to offer FREE ACT PREP classes this year! Partnering and taught by the SUU STEM Center, starting October 16th 7-8:30 PM in the library EdNet room at CHS. Sign up with the QR code. Seniors, this is a last chance to better your score before college applications are due. Juniors get a head start and practice before the spring district test. Come to receive great testing help, techniques and ways to practice so ACT day is less stressful.

FREE ACT PREP Class starts next Monday October 16th 7-8:30 PM in the Media Center EdNet room at CHS. Sign up at rmd.me/hglPW3n525y. Class is Monday thru Thursday for 2 weeks until October 26th (except Oct 23rd for fall break). This prepares for the October 28th ACT test or is good practice to prepare for later. Classes are offered by the SUU STEM Center and CHS.

Each Year the Cedar Reds and Canyon View Falcons play a "Pink Game" in honor of a breast cancer patient or family that has lost someone due to this disease. This year, the game will be played in memory of Sarah Hartmann, who passed away Aug. 26th after a hard battle with breast cancer. There will be a silent auction with all proceeds going to the family of Sarah Hartmann. The game will be held at Cedar High tonight, Oct. 4th @ 7pm. Come out and support the teams in this great cause and enjoy a night of some good volleyball. The Reds are currently in 6th place in the 4A RPI and Canyon View is sitting at #4 in the 3A RPI.

The Girls Cross Country team brought home the Region Crown after outrunning the other Region 9 teams on Tuesday afternoon at Bicentennial park. It was a tight contest between the Reds, Panthers and Thunder as the Reds won by a 10 point margin with 37 points to Pine Views 47, while the Thunder finished in 3rd with 54 points. Lucy Eckley took 2nd place in a tightly contested Individual championship as Desert Hills top runner edged Eckley out by 1.3 seconds. Cedar had 4 runners in the top 10 with Eckley in 2nd, Samantha Heaton 4th place, Kendee Corry in 7th and Maycee Dalton finishing in 10th place in the region. The Reds 5th scoring runner was Callie Peterson who finished in 14th place. Way to go Girls.

The Cedar Boys Cross Country team took 2nd place in the Region 9 race held at Bicentennial park. The Reds fell just short of Desert Hills who took home the region crown. The Reds top 5 runners all finished in the top 16 racers of the day but Desert Hills ended up ahead of the Reds with 37 points where the Reds were 10 behind at 47. Cedar was led by Ben Norton who finished in the top 10 in 5th place with the other 4 Reds just out of the top 10 with Caleb Barrows finishing in 11th place, Cole Hansen finishing 13th, Charlie Davidson in 14th and Kyler France in 16th place, all within 30 seconds of one another as Norton finished in 16:02.16, while France finished in 16:30.23. Way to go Boys

Parents and Students, just a reminder that it is CCR week. Individual appointments are being made with your student's XLT advisor. If you haven't already made an appointment with your student's XLT advisor, please do so via email or by contacting the CHS office as soon as possible. Next Friday, October 13th is the end of the first quarter so this is a great week to get help from teachers after school from 1:30 - 3:00 pm Monday - Thursday. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this extra time and support. We look forward to seeing you at Cedar High School this week.

The Girls Cross Country team took a narrow win by 1 point 49 to 50 over Pine View with Desert Hills scoring 55 points. The Reds were led by Lucy Eckley who finished in 4th place, with Kendee Corry in 10th overall. A grouping of Callie Peterson 13th place, Maycee Dalton in 14th and Samantha Heaton in 15th place to give the Reds the 1 point victory. Abigail Thompson finished in 19th and Anna Reed in 27th overall for the Reds. The Girls JV team also took first with 5 of the first 6 runners crossing the line for the Reds with Alyza Merrill winning the race and Izzy Illian, Sloan Hinman, Shelby Thorley and Leah Albrecht finishing 3-6 respectively. Way to go Girls!!!

The Reds hosted the Cedar Invitational on Wednesday evening and the Varsity team finished in 3rd place following Desert Hills and Pine View. In the final race before Region Ben Norton paced the Reds taking 11th place with Caleb Barrows close on his heels in 12th. Charlie Davidson and Ryker Weeks finished in 16th and 17th, while Cole Hansen and an under the weather Kyler France finished in 22nd place. A good showing for the Varsity team. In the JV race the Reds took the top 6 spots on the day with Ezra Cox taking first followed by Wyatt Greenhalgh, Nathan Briggs, Tyler Corry, Jonathan Wright and Trevor Hall all finishing before any runner from another school. Way to go Boys.

The Cedar Reds took 5th this afternoon at Green Springs golf course as they finished the Region schedule. Matthew Robb tied with 3 other golfers to take first place on the day and finished in tie for 5th overall in the Region. Congratulations to all of our golfers. Now on to State.

CHS Picture Retake day is THIS WEDNESDAY! The Absent/Retake picture day is an event for students who missed the initial day, for students who aren't happy with their original portraits, and for new students. For students who are requesting a retake, we ask that they bring in their proof booklet, so that our production lab may process the session as a retake. Pictures will be taken from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Cedar Reds are hosting the Pine View Panthers for Homecoming on Friday night at 7 pm. Come out and support the boys as they look to put together back to back wins. Special activities for the day will be the Homecoming parade starting at 5 pm on the streets around the school starting at STECH building North of the Football Field and ending in the Baseball/Soccer field parking lot. Tailgate party at 5:30 pm, followed by the Game. There will be a special presentation at halftime you won’t want to miss, so come out to the field and show your Cedar High Pride.

The Reds dispatched of the Panthers easily on Thursday night winning in straight sets. The win moves the Reds record to 13-3 on the year so far. Cedar was led by Emery Harrisons 9 kills and 4 aces, while Bird Allen collected 21 assists and 4 aces on the night. Annalyse Shimada contributed 8 kills and Nyah Barnes had 2 aces and 13 digs from her defensive specialist position. Way to go Girls!!!

The Reds will host the Snow Canyon Warriors on Thursday afternoon in a pivotal matchup featuring the 7-6 Reds who sit at #17 in the RPI and the #11 Warriors who boast a 9-5 record. The Reds hope to exact revenge from a loss earlier this year to the Warriors. Come out to the pitch and support the girls this afternoon. Good Luck Ladies.

The Cedar Reds Golf team put up another really good showing, finishing in 3rd place on the afternoon, shooting a 305 on the day as a team. The Reds were once again led by Junior Matthew Robb, who tied for 4th overall shooting a 70 on the day, for -2 on the afternoon. Kylan Ross finished in 17th place, shooting a 77, while Dax Nilsson shot a 78, which was good for 19th place. Max Esplin shot an 80 on the afternoon which put him in 24th position. Gavin Neville scored 83, good enough for 29th place, and Kyle Westwood shot 84, placing him in 31st place. Way to go boys!!
